Our English Springer Spaniel started his seizures in February and since then he's on meds. We have not found the cause yet, we've done a brain scan and there was nothing to spot. At first we thought it was due to some home stress but that we laid attention towards since then to go outside when there a "discussion", he's sensitive, even when there is for example a soccer match playing. As i'm writing this comment he's had 2 attacks this weekend. He's doing another cluster. His last electrolyte checkup were normal levels and his blood is good. I'm considering the possibility that it is due to some kind of infection or worm even though i'm sure he has had his deworming pill. He sometimes eats grass and he did a diarhee poop after his last attack. I've noticed when he lays next to me, i can hear "a toilet flush" so i'm wondering if there is gastrointestinal cause to this.

He wakes up and his muscles look like they are firing like cramps. He can't stand but he tries to move around. It looks like he is in pain but it usually disappears after a few minutes and then he is fine again 😞

Forget insurance (criminal), credit cards, payment plans etc, the whole pet industry is business only, no care or compassion! Something seriously needs done about these large companies profiting from charging expensive costs for medical treatment, its criminal! And all these vet practices charging pet owners money simply by walking through their doors is shocking! The whole industry is disgusting. You take your dog to the vet and vets need to go through hundreds of expensive tests before being able to give you an accurate diagnosis! Are these vets actually trained properly? Seems to me their trained in the art of taking as much money as possible! Rant over.

I was told that my pomeranian may have a brain tumor, but the MRI was quoted to me to cost $3500-$4000. I have insurance on him, but it only would cover $1000 for the MRI. I'm on LTD and am unable to afford it. My dogs are my world and have many times been the only reason for me to get out of bed some days. I've decided to just make the most of the time I have with my little man, Lemmy for whatever time he has.

I do love how an extremely expensive MRI is recommended by Neurolists yet it cant 100% diagnose a brain tumour! There is no true compassion for animals in the medical world, just like for us humans, its become a business, money, money money! Oh lets put your pet through a billion tests and then some more but theres still no guarantee of diagnosis! The whole system is shocking. Local vets charging an obscene amount of money simply by "entering" their premises and your pet hasn't even been seen yet or prescribed medication! Wheres the care and compassion for owners who cant afford the best health care? Tough cookies for us! Absolute joke. Rant over.

Fluoroquinolones caused my dog seizures. She died last week after going into a seizure and not coming out of it. She went over 12 hours before I could get her into a vet. It was the longest night of my life. pharma poisons humans and animals. I recently met a woman who was also damaged by the same class of antibiotic. She had to use a wheelchair for over a year after her ligaments in her legs softened.

All yall rude ass mfs in these comments saying that these people are stupid for crying or panicking are so rude. Obviously they wouldn’t know what to do or couldn’t perform what they’re supposed to do well when their dog has a seizure out of nowhere. It is shocking and scary and traumatizes to have any living thing have a seizure in front of you. Most times the best thing you can do is just watch and let it pass so you don’t hurt the animal or yourself. Have some sympathy :(

Sadly my feral cat Ziggy died from FIP yesterday. He became symptomatic and didn’t survive. Another rarely cat who we named Cinder was diagnosed FIP positive last week. He is just six months old. He is on meds now and seems to be improving a bit but still not eating enough. He’s super happy in spite of not feeling well. How can this be prevented< or can it be? We take care of fared cats and see how difficult it is to capture them so they can be treated.

Out of nowhere my extremely strong beautiful boy emptied his bladder in our apartment building, then three weeks later he was no longer with us. Two days before the urination accident he was given the "all clear" by a specialist veterinary hospital that did an ultrasound and radiograph on his chest and renal system, and an oncologist even did a full blood test then said everything was good to go. Yet somehow three massive brain tumors were undetected and undetectable. My beautiful innocent boy had live stolen from him by this evil monstrous disease. And I am here three months later to get a finally get a closer look at what ripped the heart out of my chest.

Oh man wow! I have a Boston Terrier he is 12.5 yrs old. He is idiopathic epileptic since age 4. He would have one grand mal a year. Jan 7 2021 he clustered and took to ER. He was started on Keppra, it didn't work. We'll Fast Forward to now, he is on phenobarb 32.4 (2 pills) at 5am and 5pm. We had ro add end of lasr year Potassium bromide and he gets 1.5 pills once daily. Prior to that he had some bouts with pancreatis, it was his canned food I give him to take his meds. He is on Neurocare and now Hills low fat digestive ID. He has done well on that. I had his parents Magnum 16 yrs old and Mazey 15 yrs old. It was an oops litter and I kept Finnegan. I lost Magnum April1st and Mazey passed 2 days later. I am completely shattered, they were everything. I didn't let Finn see bc he is also stress enduced and he had aeizure week bedore Magnum passed and then another after Mazey passed. Wow this is hard...I am lost Finn is definitely lost. I am worried for him I don't know if the Potassium bromide is causing side effects. He will lower head in a weird way, he has seems uncoordinated, lowers his hind legs so wonder if ataxia. He shakes sometimes like when we are cold. Last Saturday he was throwing up and I did take him to ER. I was worried pancreatis and the test was positive he was better by Monday. I've kept my vet updated. I am at a loss what else can he have instead of Potassium Bromide? Gabapentin maybe? We are both hurting and broken hearted by their loss. I'm terrified of losing Finn.

I had a pup with seizures. To anyone else going through it, remember they aren't in as much pain about it as you are. Also, nothing worked better to alleviate his pain and stress, than CBD oil. I got one specifically for dogs, and that worked miracles. It was a 20$ bottle. Lasted a long time, at some point he went from 2-3 seizures a month with up to 12 (some days multiple), to not having any for 5 months, my CBD oil for him ran out, and I didn't think to get it since I was broke, and he wasn't needing it. Then one day I was at work and he had 3, left early and within 12 hours he had passed away. My biggest regret is nit having that on hand for him, it might not have prevented what happened. But it would have made it a lot easier on both of us. But he was well loved, and cared for, and was the happiest boy possible. He had a whole lifetime of joy in his 3.5 years of life. RIP King 09/19/2019 - 06/02/2024🤍🕊
